People's Project funding experience

It was my first task at John Pounds Centre: to help get as many votes as possible to win the People’s Project funding to continue the social projects of the centre. Everything was new for me because we don’t do that in Spain, so I had to read about it to get more information.

The first morning I stayed at reception asking people if the had voted for us, fortunately most of the people had voted before. It was a great opportunity for me to improve my English skills because I had to talk with the people.

To be honest, at the beginning it was a little bit difficult for me to understand everyone because they use to speak fast.

I liked what I was doing because it was for a good cause, try to get money to help other people.

On Wednesday and Thursday, we were at Central Library trying to get new votes. It was a good idea because there we could talk with new people and try to get new votes. It shows how generous people were, because most of them wanted to help us with their vote and wanted to know more about us and our projects. On those two days we get a lot of online votes.

For finish our voting week, on Friday we were at Tesco. We set up a desk, where people could vote through laptops. We stayed there from 10>30 until 15>30 and got a lot of votes. It was amazing to see that many people had already voted for us even there.

Also it was a great opportunity to get to know the people of Portsmouth, who thet are and what they do.
