As part of their Esmee Fairbairn funding project - ‘Wild Hedges for Urban Edges’, The Tree Council will be holding a free, training day for Tree Wardens and other volunteers interested in planting and maintaining trees and shrubs - in gardens, community orchards or hedges.
The day will be a practical teaching session explaining and demonstrating various tree planting, pruning and management techniques, for fruit trees, orchards, fruit hedges and other trees.
The day will be held at the The Stacey Centre, Portsmouth and will begin at 9.45am for a 10am start.
After an initial indoor teaching session by Jon Stokes we will explore the hedges, community orchard and other trees around the Community Centre Orchard and grounds for the practical part of the training course either side of lunch, run by Margaret Lipscombe.
Please wear waterproof boots / clothing as we will be outside for part of the day.

- Lunch (including Vegetarian options) provided by The Stacey Centre
- Handout will be provided
- There is no charge for this course but please let us know if you book and have to cancel as places will be limited
